Clockwork Vault
Terms of Use & Privacy Policy — effective August 25, 2026
Terms of Use
The service
Clockwork Vault ("Clockwork") is a personal reminder tool for tracking return windows and warranty deadlines from purchases you photograph or enter yourself. By using Clockwork, you agree to these terms.
Not a substitute for the retailer's actual policy
Clockwork is a convenience reminder, not a legal or factual guarantee. Deadlines, return windows, and warranty periods are entered by you or estimated from on-device text recognition of a receipt photo, which can misread dates, prices, or merchant names. Always confirm the actual return window or warranty terms with the retailer or manufacturer directly before relying on a date shown in Clockwork. We are not responsible for a missed return or warranty claim, whether caused by an incorrect date, a reminder that didn't fire (for example because notifications were disabled, the device was off, or the app was uninstalled), or any other reason.
Subscriptions
Clockwork's free tier tracks up to 5 active items with a fixed reminder schedule. Clockwork Premium is an auto-renewing subscription (billed monthly or yearly, as shown at purchase) that unlocks unlimited tracked items and custom reminder timing.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID (or Google Play account) at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price shown at the time of purchase.
- Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device's account settings (App Store or Google Play) — Clockwork's developer cannot cancel it for you.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google; refunds are handled under their respective standard policies, not by Clockwork's developer directly.
Acceptable use
Use Clockwork only for its intended purpose of tracking your own purchases. Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or misuse the on-device text recognition for any purpose unrelated to the app.
"As is," no warranty
Clockwork is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy of scanned or entered data, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability arising from your use of Clockwork is limited to the amount you paid for the app or subscription in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, this page will be updated with a new effective date, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
Privacy Policy
Information we collect
None. Clockwork has no backend server. It does not make network requests to send your data anywhere, and does not use any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Camera & receipt photos
Clockwork uses your device's camera, with your permission, to photograph receipts. Text recognition (merchant, price, date) runs entirely on-device using your phone or tablet's own OCR engine — the photo and recognized text are never uploaded anywhere. If you keep an item, its receipt photo is copied into Clockwork's private storage on your device and stays there until you delete that item.
Your data
- Local storage only. Every tracked item — merchant, price, deadline, category, reminder setting, notes, and photo — lives in your device's local, on-device storage, the same way a notes app would store what you type.
- Backup & restore. Clockwork includes an optional manual backup feature (in Settings) so you can export your vault — merchant, price, deadline, category, reminder setting, and notes; receipt photos are not included — to a file of your choosing, shared entirely through your device's own share sheet. Clockwork's developer never receives a copy.
- Deleting your data. Deleting an item in Clockwork removes it and its photo immediately. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes everything else. There is no account to delete and no server-side copy, because none exists.
In-app purchases
Clockwork Premium is processed entirely by Apple or Google through their standard in-app purchase systems. Clockwork's developer never receives your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.) — that's handled directly between you and Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. Clockwork only learns whether a purchase succeeded, so it can unlock Premium features on your device.
Notifications
Clockwork can schedule local reminders ahead of a deadline. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device using its own operating system — Clockwork does not use any remote or push notification service, and no reminder content is sent anywhere.
Children's privacy
Clockwork does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of Clockwork adds a feature that involves data leaving the device — this page will be updated with a new effective date, and that change will be described in the app's release notes.
